Description
G Format Sensor
The Fujifilm GFX50S II features a 51.4 MP G format sensor that, at a staggering 43.8×32.9mm, is approximately 1.7x the size of any other full-frame sensor. Engineered to deliver the highest possible image quality, this sensor uses every element of its design to deliver consistently brilliant results.
Special microlenses have been purpose-engineered to control light rays and deliver them to each pixel, achieving an exceptional separation between colour and pixels.
A manufacturing process that has been specially designed for the GFX series, the GFX50S II’s sensor allows more information to be recorded — suppressing noise and expanding dynamic range.
Plus, with no software used to contour enhance images, the RAW files generated by the GFX50S II will display minimal image degradation, even after substantial post-production adjustments.
X-Processor 4
Working in harmony with the G format sensor, the X-Processor 4 powers the GFX50S II and enables stunning, high-quality photography, with incredible colour processing applied to every image. This processor will deliver an impeccable reproduction of every scene, regardless of whether it is applying a Film Simulation or accurately producing the colours in an expansive landscape. This processor enables a 0.4s startup, a maximum continuous shooting speed of 3.0fps, and an EVR refresh rate of 50fps.
Compatible With G Mount Lenses
The GFX50S II is compatible with Fujifilm G Mount lenses. These lenses feature short flange focal distances to help keep the GFX system as compact as possible, prevent peripheral light fall-off, and have been engineered to keep pace with 100+ MP sensors — delivering stunning astounding images with edge-to-edge sharpness.
In-Body Image Stabilisation
The newly designed in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system found in the GFX50S II is 20% smaller and 10% lighter than previous iterations, but still manages to provide up to 6.5 stops of five-axis image stabilisation, drastically reducing the image blur that occurs as a result of camera shake — making this camera perfect for handheld image-making.
Image Formats
The GFX50S II offers a variety of image formats and qualities, including uncompressed and lossless compressed RAW and JPEG formats of varying sizes, aspect ratios, and compression ratios.
In-camera RAW processing allows you to save 8-bit or 10-bit colour depth images as 8-bit or 16-bit TIFF files. And it will even let you record a cropped 36x24mm image when using a 35mm format lens with any compatible mount adaptor.
Film Simulations
Utilising 85+ years of expertise in colour science, the Fujifilm GFX50S II features multiple Film Simulation modes, each of which offers specially formulated depth, saturation, and tonality that requires little to no postproduction adjustment. These Film Simulation modes provide photographers and videographers with greater creative freedom, achieving a unique feel and style to their images tailored to their preferences. Each simulation will reproduce colours and tones from Fujifilm’s most popular analogue films and photo finishing processes. See the Film Simulations tab to find out what each Film Simulation can do.
Image Effects
The GFX50S II can enhance images even further with creative film-like effects including: Grain Effect, which replicates the graininess of analogue photos; Colour Chrome Effect, which adds depth, detail, and vibrancy to red, green, and yellow tones where saturation is too high to achieve true gradation; Colour Chrome FX Blue, which adjusts values in just the blue tones; and Smooth Skin mode, which can be used to smooth the skin texture for a more flattering complexion during portrait photography.
White Balance
Make fine adjustments to the GFX50S II’s white balance with Auto White Balance, which can be set to one of three modes: Auto, White Priority, and Ambience Priority. When set to White priority under incandescent lighting, white is more likely to be produced as pure white. When Ambience Priority is set, however, scenes will be photographed with an overall warmer white balance, preserving the lighting characteristic of the scene.
Pixel Shift Multi-Shot Function
The GFX50S II’s Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function combines 16 RAW files to create one single, stunning 200 MP image, reproducing the finest details with ultimate colour accuracy. Multi-Shot photos are created by moving the imaging sensor to record red, green, and blue data from every pixel — resulting in exceptional colour reproduction with minimal false colour.
Six Types of Bracketing
Six types of bracketing mode are available, allowing you to capture multiple frames at different settings with just a single press of the shutter release. This function works with JPEG and RAW formats, and includes (among others) Auto Exposure Bracketing, Focus Bracketing, and Film Simulation Bracketing.
AE Bracketing(2/3/5/7/9frames) | 1/3EV step, up to ±3EV step |
Film Simulation Bracketing | Any 3 types of film simulation selectable |
Dynamic Range Bracketing | 100%/200%/400% |
ISO sensitivity Bracketing | ±1/3EV/±2/3EV/±1EV |
White Balance Bracketing | ±1/±2/±3 |
Focus Bracketing | AUTO/Manual |
Interval Timer Shooting
This function lets you sample different shooting styles, including fixed-point photography, time lapse, and self-timer photography, offering control over shooting interval, total number of frames, and shutter delay. You can set the interval between 1 second and 24 hours for shooting 1 to infinity frames, or as much as the memory card will allow.
Shooting Interval | 1 second – 24 hours |
Number of Frames | 1 – 999 + ∞ |
Shutter Delay | In 0 minutes – 24 hours |
Multi Exposure Mode allows you to merge up to nine frames in Additive, Average, Comparative Bright, or Comparative Dark modes, combining images taken from multiple viewpoints or at different times into one image. You can even apply different Film Simulation modes to each of the frames, pasting colour fragments onto monochrome pictures to create a beautiful, multi-layered collage.
Self-Timer mode allows you to set a timer between 2-10 seconds — ensuring critical sharpness, which is most useful when recording landscapes, architecture, and long exposures.
Full HD Video
The GFX50S II isn’t just built to capture beautiful still images; with video recording capabilities, this camera is perfect for producing cinema-style videos. Utilising Fujifilm’s renowned colour science experience, this camera will record in Full HD (1920×1080, 29.97p/25p/24p/23.98p, 50 Mbps) with all 19 of the GFX50S II’s Film Simulations applicable to video recording. This includes ETERNA, a motion picture Film Simulation used in several Hollywood movie masterpieces.
High Precision Autofocus
The GFX50S II features cutting-edge high precision autofocusing, doubling the camera’s readout speed when prioritising focus. Plus, the IBIS system counters camera shake and an advanced focus algorithm further improves AF focus hit-rate — boosting AF in all situations, including when face and eye detection modes are being used.
Face/Eye Detection
An advanced Face and Eye Detection algorithm creates pin-sharp portraits, even with wide apertures. Eye Detection AF prioritises which eye to focus on, and Face Detection AF — in combination with the GFX50S II’s touchscreen or focus lever — selects, tracks, and perfectly pin-points one face in a large crowd of people.

Manual Focus
For a more hands-on approach, the GFX50S II is equipped with various functions that maximise the resolving power of the 51.4 MP sensor, even with manual focus. This manual focus can be magnified up to 17 times during shooting, plus manual assist functions can be selected from the menu according to your preference.
Compact & Lightweight
The GFX50S II is incredibly compact and lightweight, but don’t like its small size and light-as-a-feather feel fool you into thinking it can’t handle the conditions a photographer is used to. Made from magnesium alloy and designed to meet the needs of everyday photography, this camera remains impressively robust with a body that is 1mm thicker around the lens mount to provide additional rigidity and support. This camera body is ideal for use with larger G Mount prime and zoom lenses.
The camera’s body is also sealed in 60 different places, making it dust- and moisture-resistant and meaning it can easily take on adverse weather conditions. It will even remain unaffected by extreme temperatures, working unimpeded in environments reaching down to -10°C.
Easy to Operate
The GFX50S II makes large format photography more accessible and much more intuitive, with a PSAM dial used to access exposure functions and make handling much more convenient. A top-plate LCD screen displays key function settings even when the camera is off. Plus, a redesigned focus lever and feather-touch shutter release lend even more convenience to the image-making process.
