Description

Technology

The X-T5 uses the fifth generation stacked layer back illuminated 40.2MP high-resolution X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor and the X-Processor 5 CPU to achieve absolutely stunning images, with an enhanced image-processing algorithm used to boost resolution without affecting the signal-to-noise ratio — ensuring only the best results when it comes to creating beautiful compositions.

The improved pixel structure within the sensor allows light to be more efficiently received, enhancing the image quality further. ISO 125 is now available as standard sensitivity where it was previously available as an extended sensitivity in other iterations of the camera.

The X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor also uses a unique colour filter array to control moiré and false colour without needing to rely on an optical low-pass filter. To control the moiré this colour filter array replicates a random arrangement of silver particles on the analogue films efficiently controls colour interpolation from surrounding pixels.

RGB is always placed on any horizontal or vertical line to correctly interpolate colours in high frequency images, and G pixels are placed in all diagonal lines to improve the accuracy of diagonal high-frequency image detection and colour interpolation.

Film Simulations

The X-T5 features a selection of Film Simulation options, developed using Fujifilm’s trove of knowledge and 85+ years’ worth of colour science expertise to reproduce classic colours and tones used by Fujifilm and universally recognised by generations of photographers. Click on the Film Simulations tab above to find out more about what each Film Simulation can do.

White Balance

The X-T5 allows photographers to make fine adjustments to the Auto White Balance (AWB) by selecting one of three modes: Auto, White Priority, and Ambience Priority.
When using White Priority, white is more likely to be reproduced as white under incandescent lighting.

When using Ambience Priority, scenes will be captured with the natural lighting characteristics of the scene preserved — when taking photos under incandescent lighting, this will result in images with warmer white tones.

Deep-learning AI technology is used to optimise Auto White Balance performance by accurately identifying warm, orange-tinged colours to assist with the X-T5’s Auto White Balance accuracy.

Autofocus

The X-Processor 5’s subject-detection autofocus uses the aforementioned deep-learning AI technology to provide exceptional Auto White Balance and AF tracking, and face and eye tracking accuracy.

The X-T5’s higher pixel count increases the number of phase detection pixels, improving the AF-S focusing accuracy on subjects including landscapes and portraits. An improved autofocus prediction algorithm also enables greater stability when focusing, even when using AF-C.

160MP Pixel Shift Multi-Shot

Featuring Pixel Shift Multi-Shot and Pixel Shift Combiner software, the X-T5 is able to produce a single, 160MP ultra-high-resolution image with just the press of a button.

Plus, using in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) that shifts the sensor by half a pixel between each frame, 20 frames are made to ensure every red, green, and blue pixel has the same information — resulting in an image with almost no false colours present.

1/180,000s Shutter Speed

The X-T5 achieves a maximum shutter speed of 1/180,000 seconds, an increase of approx. 2.5 stops when compared to previous iterations in the X series. Used with wide apertures in extremely bright environments, the X-T5 enables greater creativity and the ability to freeze action at just the right moment.

Movie Mode

6.2K movies can be recorded internally at 30P in 4:2:2 10-bit colour, allowing users to capture stunning movies in high-definition and with incredibly rich and vibrant colour detail.

F-Log2 support records an expanded dynamic range of 13+ stops, which is wider than current F-Log, broadening post-production potential.

With RAW output via HDMI, when combined with an ATOMOS HDMI device, the X-T5’s RAW video output can be recorded as 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW at up to 6.2K resolution and up to 29.97fps.

Plus, when combined with Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G, the X-T5’s RAW video output can be recorded as Blackmagic RAW at up to 6.2K resolution and frame rates of up to 29.97fps.

Weather Resistant

With 56 weather-sealed points across the X-T5’s body protecting against dust and moisture ingress. Combine this weather resistance with the ability to operate unaffected in temperatures as low as -10°C and this camera allows photographers to capture beautiful images and videos in any weather conditions.
