About the Brand
Gerber was founded in 1939, born when Joe Gerber turned his advertising agency into a kitchen knife company. With the help of his sons, Pete and Ham, the brand grew from a small kitchen knife company to the internationally renowned outdoor gear brand it is today, turning Portland into a knife industry hub as it did so.
During its 85-year history, Gerber has produced tools and knives that have become legendary, providing essential gear to military personnel on the frontlines and to hunters, anglers, trade workers, emergency services, search and rescue personnel, and outdoor adventurers.
